Question of the day: 5-22-17

Question: The largest volcano mankind has discovered is almost the size of France and tall enough to pierce the atmosphere; where is it?

Answer: Mars! Olympus Mons is a shield volcano standing 22km (13.7 miles) above the surrounding area, and is  600km (373 miles) wide. Due to its massive size and gradual slope, if you were to stand at its summit, the base of the mountain would be beyond the horizon.
